Apparently People are worried about me… because I’ve started shaking my ass

Imagine… I’m just over here living my best life.

Truly wild and free for what feels like the first time.

But women be asking…

“You okay babe?”

“You alright hun?”

As if I’m in the middle of a mental breakdown. 😂

Yeah babe, I’m fine.

Still sane.

Still spiritual.

Still deeply devoted to my practice.

I just like to shake my ass now too. 💃🏻

Apparently some people are finding the transition from calm spiritual teacher to sensual dancer a little hard to adjust to.

But you know what?

I haven’t changed. I’ve just stopped keeping parts of myself on pause.

These aren’t new parts of me. They are parts of me that simply haven’t had much room to exist.

I was a mother and a wife by 22.

A full-time businesswoman by 30.

For years, whatever time, energy and resources I had beyond my responsibilities went towards my spiritual path - something I have always been wholeheartedly devoted to.

And I don’t regret that for a second.

But now my daughter has flown the nest.

There is no husband.

And I don’t even really have a conventional career anymore.

There is space.

And I am discovering what wants to fill it.

Some of the things I pressed pause on for decades are finally getting their turn.

Dancing.

Sensuality.

Play.

Adventure.

My body.

Curiosity.

Doing things simply because they feel fricking good.

And actually?

I am soooo glad I did the big stuff young.

I’m glad I became a mother.

I’m glad I built businesses.

I’m glad I devoted myself so deeply to my spiritual life.

Because now I get to do some of the wild stuff I didn’t do then…

but with 45 years of life experience behind me.

That feels pretty damn glorious.

And yes, I might be a grandmother this time next month.

But there is absolutely no way this nanna is going to be living life any less fully, joyfully, wildly or carefreely because of it.

And if anything…

I am not having a breakdown.

I am having a whole-life moment.

I am not abandoning my spirituality.

I am expanding my humanity.

And possibly that’s the bit we find uncomfortable…

when a woman who has spent much of her life being responsible, spiritual, devoted and “good” suddenly decides she wants to be sensual, playful, messy, embodied and free too.

There is no need to be concerned or confused by a strong woman being true to herself.

Maybe what deserves our curiosity is how many women never felt they were allowed to.

So yeah babe… I’m alright.

I’m just finally finding out what it feels like to belong entirely to myself.

And apparently sometimes that involves twerking. 😂
